Summary
The Engineering Manager is responsible for completing and overseeing drafting, submittal, and work order workflow to ensure projects are accurately detailed, released on schedule, and coordinated effectively between Project Management, Production, Estimating, and Engineering. This role combines hands-on drafting responsibilities with leadership of departmental workflow, prioritization, scheduling, and process management.
Responsibilities
- Maintain clear visibility of engineering workload, project status, pending information, and release schedules.
- Establish and maintain target turnaround durations for Submittals, Revisions, Work orders & Field dimension.
- Maintain ownership of drawing release dates and communicate scheduling concerns or delays proactively.
- Draft submittals with production and constructability in mind to streamline work order processing and reduce rework.
- Communicate priorities, bottlenecks, and workload concerns to Project Management and Operations in a timely manner.
- Generate preliminary work orders as early as practical to support material procurement, scheduling, and production planning.

- Review drawings and documentation for completeness, accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirements prior to release.
- Prioritize drafting and work order workflow based on production schedules, project deadlines, manpower availability, and company priorities.
- Ensure hardware, material specifications, equipment requirements, and construction details are accurately incorporated into project documents.
- Coordinate with Project Management, Production, Purchasing, and Estimating to ensure projects are released to the shop in a timely and organized manner.
