Summary
A leading company in the commercial casework market located in Tennessee is seeking an experienced Lead Finisher to lead the daily operations of its finishing department. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring exceptional craftsmanship, safety, and efficiency in the application of stains, sealers, paints, and other specialty finishes on cabinetry and other furniture.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring exceptional craftsmanship, safety, and efficiency in the application of stains, sealers, paints, and other specialty finishes on cabinetry and other furniture.

Responsibilities
-Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant finishing area, enforcing proper handling and disposal of flammable or hazardous materials.

-Ensure proper mixing, matching, and application of stains, sealers, paints, lacquers, and specialty coatings on a variety of wood surfaces.
-Conduct in-process and final inspections of finished components to ensure adherence to quality standards and client specifications.
-Ensure all safety procedures and environmental regulations are followed, and conduct regular safety training for the team.
-Supervise and coordinate all daily activities within the finishing department, including prep, application, and curing processes.
-Manage workflows and finishing schedules to meet production deadlines while upholding quality standards.
-Conduct in-process and final inspections of finished components to ensure adherence to quality standards and client specifications.

-Provide input on project-specific finishing techniques, timelines, or materials based on technical expertise.
Requirements
-Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and finish schedules.

-Previous oversite of 15-30 finishers within a custom millwork or casework finsihing dept.
-Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate finishing teams to consistently deliver high-quality work.

-Strengths in color matching pigments and stains, while anticipating augmentations after applications top coats (if any).
-Familiarity with OSHA safety & EPA standards, hazardous materials handling protocols, and Title V requirements.
-Minimum 5 years of experience in wood finishing or millwork production, including 2+ years in a supervisory role.
-Proficiency in safe and effective use of finishing equipment (e.g., spray booths, HVLP guns, sanding tools, flatline and tow line curing systems).
-Strong knowledge of finishing materials, equipment, and techniques, including water-based, solvent-based, and specialty coatings.
