SUMMARY for the PLANT MANAGER
The basic function of the Plant Manager is to plan, organize, monitor, manage, and control the Company’s machine shop, fabrication, and total production activities and elements of:
-Personnel assignments
-Production scheduling
-Training


PLANT MANAGER REQUIREMENTS
-Knowledge of the Company’s industry and trends impacting its business.
-High school diploma or equivalent, training at a trade school as a machinist is required at minimum
-Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community.
-A college degree or associate’s degree in business or engineering or materials management is preferred.  Years of experience is a plus
-Five or more years’ experience as Manager of an equivalent machining or manufacturing department with a minimum of $1m in annual sales or a manufacturing facility with a revenue of $5m+.
-Ability to guide, direct, and coordinate multiple departments with 4 or more employees each in the department.
-Ability to read, analyze, interpret both financial & production reports, drawings, and industry/trade magazines
-Ability to effectively communicate, in English, both verbally and in writing.

RESPONSIBILITIES for the PLANT MANAGER
The primary functional duties and responsibilities of the Plant Manager include:
-Complete support of Quality program and culture
-Authority to enforce the Company’s Safety Policies.
-Thoroughly review and comprehend the project’s scope of work
-Take ownership in achieving a quality product on time and on budget
-Ensure production personnel to keep production areas clean and free of debris.
-Fairly and consistently apply Company and personnel policies within the plant.
-Conduct employee performance evaluations on all production personnel quarterly
Authority to strictly enforce Company’s policies and procedures applicable to the production department.
-Interview to fill production positions with qualified personnel and must approval of new hires and compensation.
-Train and cross-train all production personnel and train a Supervisor as a backup to cover absences and vacations.
-Research and recommend measures to the General Manager to improve production efficiency, product quality, and safety.
-Provide oversite of production supplies in a manner to minimize Company costs while preventing out-of-stock conditions from restricting production.
-Prepare an effective and relevant job description or duties list for every production employee and submit to HR & the General Manager for final approval.
-Submit accurate and timely reports documenting production area activities to the General Manager, including those for production activity and scheduling.
-Schedule production and supervise and perform production area work to meet all work order commitments on time, at or under budget, and to customer and Company specifications and quality control standards.
-Be part of the team that develops and maintain shop standards, actively engage engineers, project management, shop leads and ownership in the standards process. This is a collaborative process
-As a member of the Safety Committee update the Company’s safety manual and enforce all OSHA and company safety policies. Hold Safety meetings (once a month)
-Within budgetary guidelines, authority to purchase production equipment, maintenance, tools, and supplies up to approved levels
-Maintain overall project schedule, ensuring that all shop departments are aware schedule deadlines
-Ensure the entire staff maintains an attitude towards continuous improvement
-Coordinate the working schedule with Project Management & pre-production
-Coordinate all shipping, with an emphasis on shipping complete packages
-Evaluate production methods & maintain an organized product flow
-Provide solutions for production problems or issues
-Evaluate employee performance for wage reviews
-Research on shop equipment and machines
