Starting base salary: $80-100K

Operations Manager is responsible for the management and coordination of a plant's manufacturing operations or multiple department operations consistent with cost, profit and productivity objectives

Qualifications of the Operations Manager
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or equivalent (equivalency is defined as a minimum of five  years as an operations or general manager or plant manager for non-degree individuals).
  • 7 years of recent experience in the wood laminating, fabricating, panel processing, millwork and casework manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of TRAKWARE reporting system, Experience with AutoCAD & Inventor-Solid works systems would be helpful but not required.
  • Minimum of five years successful experience as an Operations manager in a commercial cabinet manufacturing environment.
  • Understand cash flow, Turnaround management, create positive culture and align staff with company-wide goals
  • Expert with CNC routers, edgebanders, laminating lines, panel saws, molding, & assembly, etc
  • Demonstrated proficiency to manage multiple tasks, to set priorities, and to meet deadlines.
  • Strong technical background able to understand, interpret, data mine, set up work cells
  • Able to read financials, make budgets, drive results,  and manage profitable business.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all organizational levels and the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and in develop subordinates.

Responsibilities of the Operations Manager
  • Manages inventory in area of responsibility, ensures inventory is rotated in accordance with operational policy, and participates in month-end inventory. 
  • Able to work closely with the General Manager-honesty and integrity , able to make the hard decisions, earn the respect of all employees in the plant.
  • Monitors output, cuts/yields and scrap to ensure efficient resource utilization and initiates corrective action as required within area of responsibility.
  • Develops production schedules for area of responsibility, coordinates activity with other areas and forecasts inventory requirements.
  • Ensures that machinery in area of operation is properly maintained through supervision of the maintenance department.
  • Coaches and develops subordinates, evaluates performance and initiates corrective action as required.
  • Ensures performance reviews are conducted in accordance with policy in area of responsibility.
  • Analyzes production operations and workflow and develops improvement recommendations.
  • Ensure that all plant assets in area of responsibility are properly managed and safeguarded.
  • Work with Sales to meet required customers demands while balancing plant production
  • Prepares various job wrap up reports to measure if target profit margins were achieved.
  • Monitors expenses for area of responsibility and initiates corrective action as required.
  • Staffs assigned operations to meet production levels consistent with cost objectives.
  • Ensure products meet established quality standards throughout the plant process
  • Ensures that employees are properly trained and cross trained on all machines.
  • To manage day-to-day operations of about 30 plant and supervisory employees.
  • Supervises activities directly or through supervisors and lead operators.
  • Coordinate production activities including job scheduling, staffing, etc
  • Conduct Quality audits on products moving throughout the plant
  • Establishes work center/operation efficiency standards.
  • Generate reports that track key performance indicators
  • Ensure labor tracking is timely and accurate
  • Manages training for plant staff
