Install, maintain and repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes. Maintain and service motors and drives. Install and service overhead lights, intercom systems, or electrical control systems. Shall have and demonstrate skills in requirements gathering, design, configuration, integration and implementation of process control solutions, and process troubleshooting, for our wood products manufacturing facilities. This includes PLC systems, HMI packages, SCADA systems, SQL, Access, and PC networking technology. This position reports to the Plant Electrical Supervisor

  • Provide process engineering support.  This includes developing a broad familiarity of the process and unit operations, including all process control systems configuration, process troubleshooting, optimization, yield improvement.  Provide backup support to other process control and electrical personnel.
  • Introduce and recommend changes in control schemes which will improve the plant automation and improved methods of control and information gathering and reporting.
  • Provide maintenance and operations support, capital project implementation and other continuous improvement projects
  • Must be able to communicate and work with outside vendors.
  • Plan and coordinate technical design and engineering implementation of project work.
  • Must be able to read, troubleshoot, modify PLC programming written and installed by outside vendors.
  • Work closely with Supervisor, IT personnel and electrical personnel to maintain all documentation related to process control system configuration including SOP’s.  Embrace and continue to improve electrical/process control standards.

  • Ability to check and repair all types of AC circuits to 2400 volts (3-ph, single phase, motor controls, motor troubleshooting and basic control circuits using relay or PLC logic)
  • Ability to use multi-meter, am probe and other testing equipment for checking circuits, voltages, currents, continuity, etc.
  • Ability to use and follow various machine prints and schematics in order to troubleshoot and repair machine problems.
  • Ability to replace defective electrical control devices, with the same type or using a substitute.
  • Ability to check, troubleshoot and service AC and DC drives, controls and motors.
  • Ability to use an oscilloscope to troubleshoot electrical or electronic problems.
  • Able to communicate and interact with a wide variety of skill level individuals
  • Available to the manufacturing facilities as needed
  • Minimum 3 years experience in similar position
  • USNR/Perceptron experience is a plus
  • Hands-on experience with steam, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Experience in forest products, pulp and paper, or chemical industry is a plus
  • Working experience with Allen-Bradley Control Logix, RSView, and Panel View.
  • Ability to do full controls integration, from electrical/instrumentation design to PLC to MMI.
  • Familiar with most common sensors and transmitters, and their suitability to an application.
  • Full understanding of pressure, flow, level, temperature measurements and calibration techniques.
  • Knowledgeable of PC’s, Database (including SQL and Access), IO servers, Auto Cad, Windows NT/XP, and related software.
  • Ability to use a notebook computer and PLC software for reading programs, modifying of programs and troubleshooting operation of program, etc.
